Programs for 2022

February:  Old Forests:  What They Are, Why They’re Important, and Opportunities for Management.  A Virtual talk via Zoom given by Ethan Tapper, State Forester for Chittenden County.  Thursday, February 17 @ 7pm - 8pm, plus questions.  

March: Talk and photos of Longwood and Chanticleer Gardens in Pennsylvania.  Zoom presentation with Charlotte Albers of Paintbox Design, a landscape design and consulting company in Shelburne, VT.  Thursday, March 10, 2022 @ 7:00 pm.  

April: Gardening and botany enthusiast Kate Kruesi will do a Zoom presentation about "practicalities of gardening naturally with native plants to support our local ecosystems and to encourage insects, birds and animals".  Thursday, April 12, 2022 @ 7:00 pm.  

May:  Four separate single-garden tours on separate weekends.  Featuring primroses, shade garden plants, a garden with a mix of different garden beds for both ornamental and edible use, and lastly a garden highlighting rhododendrons.  And, a botanical outing to a older forest in Barnard led by Liz Thompson, co-author of Wetland, Woodland, Wildland, and botanist/ecologist with the Vermont Land Trust.

June: Botanical outing to a dune area near Lake Champlain.  Followed by an optional visit to the leader's habitat garden to observe nesting bees and other pollinators.  Also, a private garden tour in Hyde Park.

August: Annual Plant and Book Sale, and potluck supper at Summersweet Gardens in East Hardwick.
